FROM HāMāKUA HEALTH CENTER TO HāMāKUA-KOHALA HEALth
Serving Over 10,000 Patients In North Hawai'i
We continue to evolve Hāmākua-Kohala Health according to the model of the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) and were awarded National Recognition in 2022 by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for complying and being a Patient Centered Medical Home, placing patients at the center of the healthcare system, and providing comprehensive primary and preventative healthcare to persons of all ages, that is “accessible, affordable, continuous, comprehensive, family-centered, coordinated, compassionate, and culturally effective.” Services for the low-income, uninsured and under-insured are provided on a Sliding Fee Scale that is based on family income and size. Hāmākua-Kohala Health provides primary and preventative healthcare regardless of their ability to pay or health insurance status.
As the health care home for nearly 10,000 residents of North Hawai’i, Hāmākua-Kohala Health provides a comprehensive range of health, educational and preventive social services while treating the whole person in a quality, cost-efficient and caring environment. We not only offer primary medical care services, but also supportive services that include behavioral health services, patient and family education, family planning, women’s health services, support groups and translation services. We believe that each person deserves access to outstanding, state-of-the-art health care and highly skilled health care providers, and we are able to do this through generous federal, state, and county grants; donations from private donors; and the dedication of all our employees.
