The goal of Hamakua-Kohala Health is to serve the total healthcare needs of each patient. In addition to your physical health, we recognize that your mental and emotional state can also enhance or hinder your treatment and recovery. If someone is struggling, they usually don’t struggle alone. When a family member has a mental and/or substance use disorder, the effects are also felt by family and friends who may experience feelings of abandonment, anxiety, fear, anger, concern, embarrassment or guilt.

Some may wish to ignore or cut ties with a person, but more often than not, ‘ohana are not ready to go to that extreme. Hamakua-Kohala Health can help individuals and ‘ohana find encouragement and hope, learn to recognize the signs of a problem, and guide those in need to appropriate treatment and recovery support services, like those available at Hamakua-Kohala Health.

Hamakua-Kohala Health providers collaborate to provide whole-person oriented healthcare services and education. We offer integrated, client-centered treatment is healing the whole individual; physically, emotionally and spiritually by integrating primary care and behavioral health.

Let us work with you on stress management, anxiety, depression and issues of trauma. We can also assist with family well-being including parenting skills and relationship support, and marital and family communication problems. We can provide support for significant life changes or disruptions, grief and loss, physical health maintenance, chronic pain support and other concerns. Together we can establish positive behaviors that support your medical health and psychological well-being.

When everyday challenges are heightened by a personal or family illness,  including chronic medical conditions, you can experience significant anxiety, depression or even a sense of loss. At Hāmākua-Kohala Health, we’re here to assist you and your ‘ohana by providing on-site psychological services that can address behavioral health issues and also aide in quicker and more complete recovery from medical illness.
